I’ve recently finished Tales of the Morbidly Macabre.
Goodreads blurb:
My name is C. Priest Brumley.

In June of 2011, I started to take my long-dormant hobby of writing seriously and one year later, you now hold this book in your hands. It is an anthology: an amalgam of short stories, poetry, novelettes, and lyrics, put together under one cover for your convenience, updated and revised from their original incarnations.

Oh, and this book is meant to scare you.

You will turn the pages slowly, afraid of what might come next. You will cringe at a characters’ plight, or marvel at evil’s triumph. There are monsters, menaces, and an ambiguous demon more human than you or I. There is heartache, pain, suffering, and torture contained in these pages.

But muddled in the bog and quagmire of despair, there is hope, whimsy, and exoneration. There is redemption for those who deserve it. The weak become strong. Heroes are born.

I truly hope you enjoy.

We all know how much I love the creepy. The extraordinary weird. This book does it! All the way, becoming a favorite and adding it to my site.

I have to admit, I’m skeptical when it comes to horror fiction. I rarely get creeped out, but I did as Mr. Brumley suggests and read it at night.

I love the little twists within the stories, and the weirdness/creepiness of them gave me a few shivers, and had me looking forward to the next story. This is unusual in an anthology, at least for me.

I highly recommend, and hope for a full length novel from Chris. His characters are ones I would love to get to know better.
